About Alvonex
What is Alvonex?
Alvonex is a UK-based mobile connectivity business providing PAYG SIM cards, monthly SIM and eSIM plans, Data SIMs and Business Mobile solutions.
Which mobile networks do you offer?
Our product range includes plans and SIM products operating on leading UK mobile networks including EE, O2, Vodafone and Three.
Available networks vary depending on the particular product or plan.
Is Alvonex a mobile network?
No. Alvonex is an independent mobile connectivity provider and retailer. The mobile services we supply operate using established UK mobile networks.
SIMs & eSIMs
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into a compatible mobile device. Instead of inserting a physical SIM card, you activate the mobile service electronically using the activation information provided to you.
Can I have a physical SIM instead of an eSIM?
Yes. Our monthly mobile plans can be supplied as either a physical SIM or an eSIM where shown on the relevant service.
Can Data SIM plans be supplied as an eSIM?
Yes. Our Data SIM plans can be supplied as either a physical SIM or an eSIM.
If choosing an eSIM, please make sure the device you intend to use supports eSIM technology.
How do I know if my device supports eSIM?
eSIM compatibility depends on the exact make, model and sometimes regional version of your device.
We recommend checking your manufacturer’s specifications before ordering. If you’re unsure, contact Alvonex before purchasing and we’ll do our best to help.
How will I receive my eSIM?
eSIM activation information is provided electronically once the service has been processed and provisioned.
Activation times can vary depending on the network and the service ordered.
Monthly Plans
Are your monthly plans contracts?
Unless a particular plan states otherwise, our monthly mobile services are supplied on a 30-day rolling basis.
This means you are not normally committing to a 12-month or 24-month minimum term.
How are monthly plans paid for?
Monthly services use a recurring monthly payment. A valid payment arrangement must remain in place while the service is active.
Can I cancel my monthly plan?
Yes. A 30-day rolling plan can be cancelled at any time.
The service will normally continue until the end of the service period already paid for and will then be disconnected, subject to any applicable statutory cancellation rights.
Can I just cancel the recurring payment?
Please contact Alvonex when you want to cancel a mobile service.
Stopping the payment method alone may not automatically cancel the underlying mobile connection, so we need to make sure the network service is also terminated correctly.
What happens if my monthly payment fails?
If a recurring payment cannot be collected, your service may eventually be suspended or disconnected.
If you experience a payment problem, please contact us as soon as possible.
PAYG SIM Cards
What is a PAYG SIM card?
PAYG means Pay As You Go. These are physical SIM products that allow you to use the relevant network’s PAYG service without taking an Alvonex monthly subscription, unless specifically stated otherwise.
Are PAYG SIM cards physical SIMs?
Yes. The PAYG SIM cards currently sold through our shop are physical SIM cards.
Do I top up my PAYG SIM through Alvonex?
Top-up and bundle arrangements depend on the network connected with your SIM.
Please follow the activation and top-up instructions supplied with the relevant network SIM.
Data SIMs
What is a Data SIM?
A Data SIM is primarily intended to provide mobile data connectivity rather than a standard mobile voice service.
Data SIMs may be suitable for compatible tablets, routers, mobile broadband devices and other connected equipment.
Can I use a Data SIM in a router?
Many Data SIMs can be used in compatible mobile broadband routers and similar equipment.
You should check that your equipment supports the SIM or eSIM format and the relevant mobile network.
Do Data SIMs include calls and texts?
Data SIM plans are primarily data services and should not be assumed to include standard voice calls or text messaging unless this is specifically stated in the plan description.
Business Mobile
Do you provide mobile plans for businesses?
Yes. Alvonex provides Business Mobile plans for businesses requiring single or multiple mobile connections.
Can Business Mobile plans use physical SIMs or eSIMs?
Yes. Our Business Mobile plans can be supplied as either physical SIMs or eSIMs.
Can you help businesses with several connections?
Yes. We can discuss requirements for single or multiple connections and help you compare suitable networks, data allowances and plan options.
Are Business Mobile prices shown including VAT?
Business Mobile prices may be shown excluding VAT where this is clearly stated. VAT will then be added at the applicable rate.
Keeping Your Number
Can I keep my existing mobile number?
Where number porting is supported, you can normally request to transfer an existing UK mobile number to your new service.
What is a PAC code?
A PAC, or Porting Authorisation Code, is used when transferring an existing mobile number from one UK provider to another.
You normally obtain the PAC from your existing provider before requesting the number transfer.
Should I cancel my old mobile service before porting?
If you intend to keep your existing number, do not cancel your old mobile service before obtaining the required porting information and completing the transfer process.
Coverage, Data & Roaming
How can I check mobile coverage before ordering?
Mobile coverage can vary considerably by location, so we recommend checking the relevant network’s coverage information before choosing a plan.
Can Alvonex guarantee mobile signal or data speed?
No mobile provider can guarantee the same signal or data speed everywhere.
Coverage and performance can be affected by your location, buildings, terrain, device, network capacity and other factors.
What does Fair Usage Policy mean?
Some plans, particularly plans described as Unlimited, are subject to a network Fair Usage Policy.
This means the network may set a reasonable usage threshold or other conditions. Where a specific allowance applies, we aim to show it with the relevant plan.
Can I use my plan abroad?
Roaming varies by network and plan.
Some plans include limited roaming, while others may be intended for domestic UK use only. Please check the individual plan information before travelling.
Orders & Delivery
How will a physical SIM be delivered?
Physical SIM cards are dispatched to the delivery address provided when you place your order.
The available delivery method and any applicable delivery charge will be shown during the order process.
Do eSIMs need to be posted?
No. An eSIM does not require a physical SIM card to be posted. Activation information is provided electronically once the service is ready.
Can I return a SIM card?
Your return and cancellation rights depend on whether you purchased a physical product or a mobile service and whether the service has already been activated.
Full information is available in our Returns & Refunds Policy.
